Ukrainian has paired verbs of motion: unidirectional (one trip, one direction, in progress) and multidirectional (habit, round trip, general ability), split further into on-foot (іти/ходити) and by-vehicle (їхати/їздити).
I can choose the right verb of motion to say whether I go on foot or by vehicle and whether the trip is one-directional now or a habit.

Зараз я йду на Хрещатик, а зазвичай ходжу в парк Шевченка.
Right now I'm walking to Khreshchatyk, but usually I walk to Shevchenko Park.
Щоліта ми їздимо до бабусі в Карпати, а завтра їдемо до Львова.
Every summer we travel to Grandma's in the Carpathians, and tomorrow we're going to Lviv.
Діти весело бігають подвір'ям, а песик біжить прямо до мене.
The children run around the yard happily, while the little dog runs straight to me.
