Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?

🇬🇧 English speakers: 'can/want/must' = a conjugated verb + the infinitive (no 'to': хочу спати = 'I-want to-sleep'). But треба/можна are impersonal — the person goes in the dative (Мені треба), not the nominative.

Я хочу вивчити українську мову.

I want to learn Ukrainian.

хочу + infinitive вивчити.

Мені треба купити квитки.

I need to buy tickets.

Impersonal треба + dative мені.

Ти можеш мені допомогти?

Can you help me?

можеш + infinitive допомогти.
