I study in order to pass the exam.
הם באו כדי לראות את המשחק.
They came in order to watch the game.
היא קנתה ספר כדי ללמוד עברית.
She bought a book in order to learn Hebrew.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
כדי ל- (kdei le-) plus an infinitive expresses purpose (in order to): כדי להצליח (kdei lehatzliach, in order to succeed). Both clauses must share the same subject: אני לומד כדי להצליח (I study in order to succeed). This works just like English 'in order to' plus a verb.
