Interpunkce ve složitých souvětích
Punctuating multi-clause sentences: nested clauses, infinitive phrases, vsuvky, colons and semicolons
I can punctuate long multi-clause sentences reliably, including semicolons and colons.
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
Restaurace, kterou nám doporučili, i když je drahá, stojí za návštěvu.
The restaurant they recommended, even though it is expensive, is worth a visit.
Plán je jasný: ráno Vyšehrad, odpoledne Petřín; večer necháme volný.
The plan is clear: Vyšehrad in the morning, Petřín in the afternoon; the evening we leave free.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Pravidla pro delší souvětí:
