I am learning Georgian because I live in Georgia.

რადგან გვიანია, ტაქსით წავალთ.

ძალიან ცხელა, ამიტომ ზღვაზე მივდივართ.

Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?

Cause and result

Three tools: იმიტომ რომ (because - colloquial, follows the main clause), რადგან (since - neutral, can open the sentence), and ამიტომ (therefore - introduces the RESULT). The pair to keep apart: იმიტომ looks like ამიტომ but they point in opposite directions.

Using amitom for 'because' (*davrchi amitom ts'vims) and doubling connectors (*radgan... amitom in one sentence is heavy style).

Common Error Patterns

Swapping amitom (therefore) with imitom rom (because)

Cause-vs-result sorting drills with the same two clauses.

imitom rom is the spoken-register 'because' - cause after effect.

რადგან გვიანია, ტაქსით წავალთ.

Since it is late, we'll take a taxi.

radgan can open the sentence - cause first, like English 'since'.

ძალიან ცხელა, ამიტომ ზღვაზე მივდივართ.

It is very hot, so we are going to the sea.

amitom flips the logic: it introduces the RESULT, not the cause.
