• Older verb forms: होत for होता, करत for करता, जात for जाता.
• Braj pronouns: मोहे, तोहे, पिया.
• Free word order, including verb-first lines.
• Heavy Perso-Arabic vocabulary in ghazal-influenced songs: दिल, इश्क़, नज़र, ख़्वाब.

Two traditions in one playlist

A devotional song leans on Braj and Sanskrit; a romantic one leans on Urdu. The same film may contain both, and the register tells you the genre before the words do.

Do not imitate

These forms are marked as poetic. Using होत in conversation is not archaic charm; it is a mistake.
