|---|---|---|
| mužský životný | pán / muž | bez pána / muže |
| mužský neživotný | hrad / stroj | do hradu / stroje |
| ženský | žena / růže | od ženy / růže |
| střední | město / moře | u města / moře |
Pozor: některá neživotná maskulina mají -a místo -u: do lesa, bez chleba, ze sýra, do Londýna.
- EN speakers drop the case after prepositions: *bez cukr → bez cukru
- RU/UK speakers transfer their endings: *bez pánu (по-русски «без пана») → bez pána
- DE speakers use dative after z/od (German von+Dat): *od bratrovi → od bratra
- -u vs -a in inanimate masculines: *do lesu → do lesa (but do hradu)
