B2 requires fluency with the full range of logical connectors beyond basic weil/obwohl/wenn.
| Type | Subordinating | Adverb/Coordinating |
|---|---|---|
| Kausal | weil, da | deshalb, daher, deswegen, darum, nämlich; denn |
| Konzessiv | obwohl, obgleich, obschon | trotzdem, dennoch, allerdings; aber, doch, jedoch |
| Konditional | wenn, falls, sofern | sonst, andernfalls, ansonsten |
Da vs. weil: Da is used when the reason is already known or less important; it often starts the sentence. Weil introduces new information.
Falls vs. wenn: Falls = in case (less likely); wenn = if (neutral). Sofern = provided that (formal).
Allerdings: A concessive adverb meaning 'however, though' that sits in the middle field: Er ist nett, er ist allerdings manchmal zu laut.
- Da vs. weil position: Da usually starts; weil usually follows main clause.
- Mixing conjunction types: Subordinating → verb at end; adverbs → inversion; coordinating → no change.
- Falls as always: Falls implies uncertainty; for general conditions, use wenn.
