I can punctuate quotations and dash dialogues the Russian way.
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
- Чей это кот на подоконнике? - строго спросил вахтёр.
'Whose cat is that on the windowsill?' the doorman asked sternly.
Чехов писал: «Краткость - сестра таланта», - и сам следовал этому правилу.
Chekhov wrote, 'Brevity is the sister of talent,' and followed this rule himself.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Два формата прямой речи:

| кавычки-«ёлочки» | Он сказал: «Я приду». |
| диалог с тире | - Придёшь? - спросила Аня. - Конечно, - ответил он. |
Правила: после слов автора - двоеточие; слова автора после реплики - с маленькой буквы через запятую-тире: - Привет, - сказала она. Вопросительный/восклицательный знак заменяет запятую: - Придёшь? - спросила Аня.
