V češtině se zápor tvoří předponou ne-, která se připojuje přímo ke slovesu: vím → nevím, rozumím → nerozumím.

Dvojitý zápor je v češtině povinný! Pokud je ve větě záporné zájmeno (nikdo, nic, nikde, nikdy), sloveso musí být také záporné:
Nikdo nemluví. (doslova: Nobody not-speaks) — v češtině správně!
*Nikdo mluví. — ŠPATNĚ!
Záporná slova: někdo → nikdo, něco → nic, někde → nikde, někdy → nikdy, nějak → nijak.
Häufige Fehlermuster
Using a negative pronoun (nikdo, nic, nikdy) without negating the verb
Czech ALWAYS requires double negation: Nikdo nepřišel (not *Nikdo přišel). Every negative word demands ne- on the verb.
Separating ne- from the verb or placing it incorrectly
Ne- is always a prefix fused to the verb: nemluvím, nerozumím. It is never a separate word.
Nerozumím, co říkáte.
Ich verstehe nicht, was Sie sagen.
Simple negation: ne- prefix attaches directly to the verb. No auxiliary verb needed (unlike English 'don't').
Nikdo tady nic neví.
Niemand hier weiß etwas.
Triple negation: nikdo (nobody) + nic (nothing) + neví (doesn't know). All negative elements must co-occur in Czech.
Nikdy tam nejezdím.
Ich fahre nie dorthin.
Nikdy (never) requires the verb to also be negated: nejezdím. English uses only 'never' without negating the verb.
